Every summer the APD Communities Service Division manages four one-week long camps designed especially for “at risk” youth entering the 8th or 9th grade and ages 12-14. The activities are designed to build character, leadership, trust and responsibility through a variety of activities. Attendees are also introduced to the Hometown Recruiting Program and police career opportunities. Funds from the Arlington Police Foundation help to support the cost of camp.
This is my second year to attend he PAL Camp. I love the encouragement, working as a team, getting along with everyone & supporting each other. WE PUT PEOPLE UP, NOT DOWN and have a lot of fun. Before I came here I did not have a lot of friends and I was not good at working with other people. But here I work better with other people and interact more. MY FAVORITE PART IS BEING WITH THE OFFICERS!
The Arlington Police Foundation supports and supplements the efforts of the Arlington, Texas Police Department through officer resources, youth programs, recognition of outstanding service and scholarships.
