2019 Back the Blue Bash

The 6th Annual 2019 Back the Blue Bash was held March 30 at the Arlington Convention Center. This is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Arlington Police Foundation and funds raised continue to help us provide funds to the Arlington Police Department for essential equipment and programs for the Arlington (TX) Police Department which are not included in the city budget. In addition, the Foundation provides financial assistance to deserving law enforcement related community projects including many youth related programs like Mentoring Arlington Youth, the Police Activities League Summer Camp, the APD Explorer program and the Hometown Recruiting program which includes college scholarships for deserving youth in our community.

The 2019 Bash was attended by over 700 individuals and raised over $150,000 through a combination of sponsors from the Arlington community, ticket sales, silent and live auctions and more.

Every year an award has been given to an outstanding individual from the Arlington Police Department. This was the first year that the award took on the special name, The Chaplain Harold Elliott Legend Award in honor of Chaplain Elliott who passed in April, 2019. He became the volunteer Chaplain in 1974 and in 1982 he became APD’s first full time Chaplain. He continued to serve or support the APD throughout his lifetime. He also founded the Police Museum in 1982 and the museum was named after him in 2004. He was a giant and trailblazer as a law enforcement Chaplain.

Lt Long is APD’s longest tenured public servant. He retired in 1992 but continues to work for the department as a volunteer.

Thank you to the sponsors of the 6th annual Back the Blue Bash in 2019!
