Scholarships

The AISD Police Academy, also called the Hometown Recruiting Program, helps Arlington high school students get ready for careers in law enforcement, focusing on
those interested in serving their local community. Participants come from all six AISD high schools. To apply, students provide referrals, submit resumes, answer video
interview questions, complete a physical tryout, and have an interview with both the advisor and AISD/CTC administrators. Throughout the program, they learn about servant leadership and work on a community project near the end of the year, either by themselves or with a partner. These students are future leaders and could become Arlington Police Officers.

After finishing the program, students only need 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution to apply to the APD. The Hometown Recruiting option is
exclusive to seniors who complete the program. This partnership between the Arlington Independent School District and the Arlington Police Department is gaining
attention nationwide among other school districts and law enforcement agencies. The Arlington Police Foundation backs the program by providing two annual
scholarships totaling $7,500 to support students in the Arlington Independent School District and the Arlington Police Department’s Hometown Recruiting Program.
